The first electric bike from Danish company Biomega, designed by KiBiSi. As anyone who’s ever ridden an electric bike will testify, they tend to be heavy and not always with a good weight distribution and quite often with a high center of gravity. Biomega’s solution to this is to make an all-carbon city bike, where even the fenders are an integrated entity of the design. I have few issues with the fundamental design; The battery sits high in the frame and will give the bike a high center of gravity and the motor in the front wheel will probably make it less nimble in traffic. I’m also sceptical about the integrated fender. What happens if one breaks? Do you really need to replace the whole frame or fork? How does this solution relate to Biomega’s philosophy, where one of the cornerstones is Ethics?
