Rimowa is re-creating the worlds first all-metal airplane, the Junkers F13. The F13 was constructed with an aluminium structure covered with corrugated and stressed aluminium (duraluminium) skin and first flew in 1919. Corrugated iron was invented in 1820 and Junkers use of a corrugated skin would later inspire the design of Rimowa briefcases and Citroën’s HY van among others.
